Whether it’s the most wonderful time of the year, you’re looking for a gift, or you simply prefer shopping at eco friendly stores rather than mainstream outlets, our guide to environmentally conscious Las Vegas retailers means you can enjoy your shopping trip without shortchanging the planet.
Here are 8 fellow Vegas businesses that, like our eco friendly florist store, are doing their bit to help you help the planet.
Thrift shops and clothing exchanges
Fashions always come back around. So if you’re looking for timeless pieces and hidden treasures, check out these thrift stores, antique outlets, and pre-loved clothing boutiques.
Alt Rebel for clothing and accessories
Time to refresh your wardrobe? Then take a trip to South Commerce Street where you’ll find Alt Rebel – a store that sells, buys, and trades secondhand (or third and fourth) fashions from the 60s to the 00s. Rifle through the men’s and women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories to find designer gems and vintage wares.
Get a feel for the Alt Rebel vibe by visiting their Instagram.
Buffalo Exchange clothing thrift shop
The first Buffalo Exchange store opened in 1974. But the herd has grown a lot since then. There are now 40 stores across the States, with the Vegas store located on South Main Street in the Arts District.
Want to save a buck or five? Sign up to their emails and check out their events page so you can jump in on their crazy $1 clothing sales and other money-saving opportunities.
Peddlers Antique Mall for eclectic treasures
From trinkets and oddities to vintage fashions and retro gaming, Peddlers on Main Street is home to 17 vendors that sell pre-loved wares. Between them they cover pretty much every style and taste. It’s the ideal place to shop when you’re trying to buy something for the person who thinks they have everything.
Vegas businesses that are upcycling, recycling, and repurposing
From coffee cups to cotton swabs, and food containers to cutlery, day-to-day life is full of single-use items. And many of them contribute to the 146.1 million tons of waste that Americans send to landfill each year.
A handful of Vegas businesses are doing their bit to reduce that figure by reusing and repurposing items to give them a second life.
Brew and Bougie for soy candles
Craft beer is known for having badass artwork on the cans. Now, you could toss that art into the trash once the beer is gone. Or you could hand it over to Brew and Bougie. This one-woman Vegas business started as a pandemic hobby.
Now these repurposed beer-cans-come-soy-candles are shipped across the US so craft beer fans can make the most of that eye-catching art for a bit longer.
Chop Value for homewares and furniture
Around 1.5 million bamboo chopsticks are used every week worldwide. ChopValue is trying to tackle part of that problem by upcycling as many of them as possible. Through their environmentally conscious recycling process (which you can read about here), they’re turning bamboo chopsticks into simple, elegant products for your home or office.
In their online store you’ll find side tables, desks, shelves, coasters, and charcuterie boards.
Businesses using all-natural or eco-friendly ingredients
A business may try to be greener by reducing its carbon footprint. This can involve finding suppliers and products closer to their location, sourcing ingredients from producers who take steps to protect the planet, or creating products free from chemicals and synthetic components. The following eco friendly stores and businesses do one or more of these.
Mike’s Recovery for bath and body products
Originally a massage therapist, Mike of Mike’s Products wanted to capture the rejuvenating goodness of a massage and bottle it. The result is a range of aromatherapy bath soaks, soaps, body oils, and scrubs that leave you feeling fresh and revived.
Vesta Coffee Roasters for specialty coffees
The global demand for coffee has grown since the 1990s. To match demand, the number of coffee farms needed to increase, which led to deforestation. And to ensure bountiful crops, pesticides, chemicals, and artificial growing techniques are being used more and more.
In short, our caffeine habit has had a significant impact on the planet.
That’s why Vesta Coffee sources their beans from farmers and exporters who support sustainable growing practices. So if you’re looking for a greener cup of the black stuff while in Vegas, Vesta is the place to go.
Hemlock Park for products to pamper your body and soul
Handcrafted in small batches using natural ingredients, the Hemlock Park range includes aromatherapy candles made from coconut oil available in earthy, rich scents. Candles not your thing? Try one of their bath soaks or organic soaps instead.
As an extra feel-good factor, when you buy from Hemlock Park you’re also giving back to the planet, as they support the OneTreePlanted initiative.
How we’re doing our bit to be an eco friendly store
The cut flower industry is known for having a detrimental effect on our planet. So calling ourselves an eco friendly sustainable florist isn’t something we take lightly. It’s something we work really hard at.
Our belief in the Gaia theory is why we’re always looking for ways to balance the enjoyment plants and flowers give us with the potential impact our store may have on Mother Earth.
Here are just 3 ways we make sure our products are as eco friendly as possible.
1. We donate items we don’t need anymore
As well as creating bouquets for your beloved family and friends, we also make arrangements for large Vegas trade shows and events.
Afterwards we’re left with vases, buckets, and art that were part of the installation. But rather than throw them away, we donate them to the thrift store Savers.
Any plants or arrangements in good condition after the show or event are usually donated to care homes, hospitals, or other small businesses. Or we use them to decorate our own store until they’re past their best.
2. We source local produce
Finding plants and flowers grown as close to Vegas as possible helps reduce emissions from goods transport. Whenever possible we work with Navada-based suppliers. And when we need to source stock from further afield, we try to go only as far as California.
3. We’re a member of 1% for the Planet
This global movement provides businesses with guidance and ideas on how to be more earth-friendly. It’s also a good way to network with other like-minded businesses and environmental partners. The 1% bit comes from businesses committing to donate 1% of their annual profits to the organization (which we do).

Buying from stores that support sustainability, benefit the environment, and work to support people along every step of the supply chain will lead to better outcomes for all of us. But how you shop is just one way you can support the planet.
